Position Title: Junior Accountant
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Accounting Director
Job Summary
Responsible for carrying out various accounting tasks, including the preparation of financial reports such as income statements and balance sheets, account analysis, quarterly reports for regulatory agencies, corporate registrations, and other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Process monthly and quarterly accounting closings in the accounting system to generate financial statements.
• Access and review reports from the General Ledger, Income Statement, and Balance Sheet, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Review financial statement data, variances, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit corporate documentation to regulatory entities such as the Department of State, IRS, and municipal agencies.
• Perform account reconciliations from the General Ledger.
• Serve as a liaison with external auditors.
• Prepare, print, and file reports as required.
• Prepare and submit reports to banks and external auditors as needed.
• Participate in annual physical inventory and prepare inventory reports according to established procedures.
• Provide support to other areas within the Accounting Department.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of processed, stored, and accessed information.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe and risk-free work environment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in similar accounting functions.
• Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Strong analytical skills to review accounting aspects of the company.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
