Job Summary

A growing international food manufacturing organization is seeking a Japanese Speaking Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Hayward, CA. This role is ideal for a bilingual accounting professional who enjoys leading daily accounting operations, improving processes, and supporting financial reporting for both U.S. and Japanese stakeholders.

The Japanese Speaking Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and partnering with leadership across accounting, operations, supply chain, and executive teams. Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll support, and close activities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
- Coordinate financial reporting, analysis, and communication with Japanese headquarters or international stakeholders.
- Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for manufacturing operations.
- Maintain and improve accounting controls, procedures, documentation, and compliance processes.
- Support external audits, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and accounting team development.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Oversee accounting operations for a manufacturing environment, including general ledger, close, reporting, and compliance.
- Lead cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Partner with Japanese and U.S. stakeholders to support financial reporting and business communication.
- Support audits, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and internal control improvements.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting compliance standards.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing-related financial analysis.
- ERP system experience, such as SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or a similar platform.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, accounting staff, and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA or other professional accounting certification.
- Experience working with Japanese-owned or international companies.
- Experience in food manufacturing, CPG, or production environments.
- Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting staff.
