Position Overview
The Production Planning / Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all production planning and inventory control functions within the manufacturing facility, including raw materials, components, and finished goods. This role ensures inventory accuracy, proper material flow, ERP integrity (NetSuite), and compliance with company procedures. The Production Planning / Inventory Manager works oversees planning and inventory control personnel and works closely with the Production and Shipping teams to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and support operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Accuracy
Oversee and manage the production planning process, including the creation of manufacturing work orders for stock and make to order demand, and accurate reporting of production within the ERP system.
Oversee and manage inventory accuracy of Raw Materials, Finished Goods, and Components.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies per written procedures.
Maintain accurate inventory records within NetSuite (WMS).
Ensure all work orders are closed in real time.
Monitor partial work orders and coordinate with Planners.
Ensure all inventory pulled for orders is scanned and matches bill of lading/shipping documents.
Ensure all finished goods and components are scanned in/out of proper locations.
Oversee proper material identification, labeling, and storage procedures.
Manage damaged, mislabeled, mis-handled, or incorrectly stocked inventory.
Monitor and control slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory.
Material Flow & Operational Support
Oversee transfer of raw materials and components to designated work centers.
Support Production Planners as needed.
Maintain staging, stock, and inventory areas clean and organized.
Leadership & Team Support
Work closely with Shift Supervisors and Leads to ensure proper material flow.
Provide guidance and training on inventory procedures and WMS usage.
Develop and improve inventory control procedures.
Assist in cross-functional operational tasks as needed.
Perform additional duties and implement procedures as business needs evolve.
Qualifications
3+ years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment (managerial or lead experience).
Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or similar ERP/WMS systems.
Experience in inventory observations, discrepancy investigation, and inventory reconciliation.
Solid math skills and understanding of material measurements.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email communication.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Safety-conscious and team-oriented.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Frequent standing, bending, and walking.
Ability to climb ladders and work in warehouse/yard conditions.
Exposure to various weather conditions when working outside.
Must wear appropriate safety attire.
