Litigation Paralegal – Insurance Defense (Medical Malpractice Preferred) - Jacksonville, FL
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with 5+ years of Insurance Defense experience, preferably including Medical Malpractice claims.
Our paralegals perform high-quality, billable work that directly supports our attorneys and clients. We expect a high level of expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a busy litigation caseload with professionalism and precision.
Primary Responsibilities
Demonstrate effectiveness in obtaining, reviewing, and managing client documents, including electronic data, and identifying potentially relevant materials for each case.
Conduct litigation-related research, including criminal and civil background checks, and obtain properly authenticated records as necessary.
Identify, prepare, and produce documents for discovery, including Bates labeling and redaction of privileged or confidential information.
Assist in all aspects of trial preparation, including:
Managing exhibits and evidentiary materials
Preparing witness lists and files
Drafting and coordinating subpoenas
Coordinating and attending witness preparation meetings
Assisting at trial
Conduct thorough online research utilizing firm electronic resources efficiently and effectively.
Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and proactively seeking assistance when needed.
Summarize medical records, bills, and supporting documentation; prepare medical chronologies and billing summaries.
Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel in a collaborative team environment.
Work closely with retained expert witnesses, including reviewing qualifications, assisting with selection and retention, and serving as liaison between the firm and experts.
Review vendor invoices for accuracy and submit to Accounting for timely processing.
