The Insurance Benefits & EOB Coordinator plays a key role in helping patients understand their coverage, financial responsibility, and treatment costs. This position requires strong knowledge of insurance benefits, EOB interpretation, claim reconciliation, and patient communication. You will support both the clinical and administrative teams by ensuring insurance information is accurate, up to date, and clearly communicated.
Key Responsibilities
-Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility for upcoming medical or dental procedures.
-Review, interpret, and accurately post Explanations of Benefits (EOBs).
-Apply insurance write-offs, contractual adjustments, and plan-specific allowances.
-Prepare detailed financial or treatment cost estimates, clearly outlining insurance coverage versus patient responsibility.
-Communicate with patients about benefits, coverage limitations, financial obligations, and available payment or financing options.
-Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims and pre-authorizations.
-Reconcile claims and resolve discrepancies with payers when necessary.
-Maintain accurate documentation within the practice management or billing software.
-Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support smooth scheduling, treatment planning, and patient communication.
Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience in medical or dental insurance coordination, billing, benefits verification, or EOB processing.
-Strong knowledge of insurance plans, coverage rules, and billing codes (CDT, CPT, or specialty-specific codes).
-Proficiency in interpreting EOBs and applying write-offs or adjustments.
-Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
-Clear and compassionate communication skills when explaining financial details to patients.
-Experience with practice management or billing software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, eClinicalWorks, etc.).
Schedule & Compensation:
-Full-Time, Monday–Friday schedule (no nights or weekends).
-Pay range: $20–$26 per hour depending on experience.
-Benefits package may include PTO, paid holidays, health insurance contribution, 401(k), and profit sharing (varies by practice).
