Immediate need for A Human Resources Generalist. Reports To: [HR Director/Executive Director/COO]
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable HR Generalist to support and enhance our human resources operations. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions including employee relations, leave administration, compliance, performance management, and staff development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in California labor laws and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to HR support.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a trusted resource to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
• Ensure compliance with California labor laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices.
• Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA, disability, and other protected leaves.
• Lead performance management processes including evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and documentation.
• Investigate employee relations issues and recommend appropriate resolutions.
• Develop and facilitate in-house training programs on workplace policies, compliance, and professional development topics.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
• Partner with leadership to promote a positive, compliant, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of overall HR experience, with at least 3–4 years in a Generalist-level role.
• Strong understanding of California labor laws, employment compliance, and HR best practices.
• Experience with leave administration, performance management, employee relations, and in-house training.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
• Experience working in a non-profit, healthcare, or social services environment.
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems. The HR Generalist must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting and interact regularly with staff at all levels of the organization.
