A non-profit organization in Orlando, FL is seeking to add a Housing Navigator to their team!

A Housing Navigator assists individuals and families in finding and securing stable housing. They help clients navigate the complexities of the housing market, assess needs, develop housing plans, and connect them with resources and support services. They act as a guide and advocate, working to overcome barriers to housing and promote housing stability.


Key responsibilities of a Housing Navigator include:

· Assessment and Planning:

Conducting housing needs assessments, developing individualized housing plans, and identifying barriers to housing.

· Resource Navigation:

Connecting clients with appropriate housing options, including subsidized housing, shelters, and other community resources.

· Advocacy and Support:

Advocating for clients with landlords, property managers, and other stakeholders, and providing support throughout the housing search and application process.

· Case Management:

Providing ongoing support and case management to ensure clients maintain stable housing and access necessary services.

· Collaboration:

Working with internal teams, community partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate housing placements and ensure a coordinated approach.

· Documentation and Reporting:

Maintaining accurate records, tracking client progress, and providing reports as required by funding sources.

Specific tasks may include:
Assisting with housing applications, lease agreements, and related paperwork.
Helping clients access financial assistance for application fees, security deposits, and other moving expenses.
Conducting apartment searches, attending viewings, and advocating for clients with landlords.
Coordinating with housing authorities, landlords, and other service providers.
Providing education and support to clients on tenant rights and responsibilities.
Assisting with transportation and other logistical needs related to housing searches.
Identifying and addressing any barriers to housing stability, such as income, credit, or background issues.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.

Knowledge of the local housing market and available resources.

Experience with case management and client advocacy.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in data management and record keeping.

Empathy, patience, and a commitment to social justice.
