Description
Under general supervision, maintains, repairs, installs and configures personal computer hardware and software, peripherals, telecommunications and telephone equipment; works on projects supporting implementation of new computer systems and technologies; provides desktop support of standard applications, workstations and printers; performs limited system administration functions; and performs related work as required.

Example of Duties
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:

Provides support for personal computer, network and telecommunications systems;
Installs and configures personal computer hardware and software, user profiles, e-mail, voicemail and desktop applications;
Installs and repairs network printers, telephone stations and related equipment;
Resolves personal computer and network problems;
Monitors and maintains file and print servers, e-mail, and peripheral equipment;
Manages user accounts and mailboxes;
Maintains and supports intranet and internet web sites and web server, including updates, graphics and configuration of user applications;
Performs back-ups on servers and telephone systems;
Monitors back-up, anti-virus and filter logs;
Manages work orders;
Provides training to users;
Attends training sessions; and
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience: Equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, business administration or a related field; and three years of increasingly responsible experience in the support of applicable information systems. Additional, relevant experience may be substituted for the desired education on a year-for-year basis up to two years.

Knowledge of:
Microsoft NT, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory and Internet Explorer;
Nortel PBX systems;
Operating systems, database and applications software;
Data communications/network systems;
Network based services including e-mail, printing, back-ups, anti-virus and security;
Web site administration;
Operating characteristics, capabilities, limitations and service requirements of personal computers and related peripheral equipment;
Basic electronics methods, parts and tools used in the maintenance and repair of a variety of electronic and communications systems including telephone, voice mail, fax and related systems; and
Current information technology products and developments.
