The Healthcare Project Manager will lead strategic initiatives designed to enhance Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) operations within a healthcare organization. This position requires a results-oriented professional capable of managing large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with healthcare and PBM regulations, and aligning initiatives with organizational strategy and patient-centered outcomes. The role demands exceptional leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and an understanding of both operational and regulatory complexities across the healthcare ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee complex PBM and healthcare projects from planning through execution, ensuring that objectives, scope, and deliverables align with business goals and compliance requirements.
• Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, resources, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies, maintaining strict control over deliverables and timelines.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, IT, clinical, compliance, and operations teams to define project goals, identify dependencies, and ensure seamless integration across departments.
• Drive execution using structured project management methodologies, ensuring adherence to best practices, industry standards, and performance benchmarks.
• Anticipate potential risks and proactively implement corrective actions to prevent delays or compliance gaps, maintaining full regulatory alignment with PBM and Medicare requirements.
• Provide clear and continuous communication to all stakeholders, including progress reports, executive summaries, and post-project assessments that identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
• Stay informed on PBM industry trends, healthcare innovations, and changes in Medicare regulations to anticipate organizational needs and support long-term strategic planning.
• Promote operational excellence, collaboration, and accountability across multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Pharmacy, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or PMP certification preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience managing projects in healthcare, PBM, or similar regulated environments.
• In-depth understanding of PBM processes, compliance frameworks, and Medicare operations, including claims, audits, or reporting standards.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality results.
• Strong leadership and organizational capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills in both English and Spanish.
• Proficiency in project management tools and reporting platforms such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated analytical mindset and problem-solving approach, with a focus on driving measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
Professional Experience
• Minimum of 3 years working directly in PBM or managed care environments, managing large-scale initiatives with regulatory and operational impact.
• Experience in product management, process optimization, technology implementation, or compliance-driven transformations within the healthcare sector preferred.
• Familiarity with Medicare standards, managed care contracts, and PBM financial models.
