Job Summary
We are seeking a Health & Safety Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Cayey, PR with a manufacturing organization that values safety, environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for an OHS&E professional who enjoys supporting safety programs, maintaining compliance documentation, coordinating training, and helping create a safe and well-organized workplace.
The Health & Safety Technician will support Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental activities across the operation, including OSHA compliance, ISO environmental management support, safety orientations, contractor qualifications, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and regulatory recordkeeping. Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental rules.
- Coordinate and participate in safety audits, inspections, Safety Committee activities, Near-Miss program updates, accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
- Maintain OHS&E documentation, permits, logs, certifications, compliance calendars, training records, computerized reporting systems, and other regulatory records.
- Assist with safety orientations, contractor inductions, employee training, industrial hygiene program support, emergency preparedness activities, and environmental training requirements.
- Maintain ISO compliance calendar updates, monitor EMS objectives, evaluate environmental aspects and impacts for new projects, and investigate EMS non-conformities.
- Communicate potential OHS&E noncompliance issues to leadership, assist during regulatory agency inspections, provide requested documentation, and support safety-related permitting activities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $35,000 to $40,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support OSHA, OHS&E, EMS, and ISO compliance programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate safety inspections, audits, orientations, contractor qualifications, and training activities.
- Maintain regulatory documentation, permits, logs, compliance calendars, computerized reporting, and safety records.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, Near-Miss reporting, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school, preferably in a technical field related to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
- Three years of related experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
- Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish, with a good understanding of English.
- Ability to understand and write instructions, documents, and communicate information effectively.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office and Outlook 365.
- Good math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and use tools such as a calculator.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work area following 6S principles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate meetings, training events, documentation updates, and cross-functional safety activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical education or coursework related to Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a similar field.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ISO environmental management systems.
- Experience supporting emergency preparedness, permit-to-work processes, contractor safety programs, or regulatory agency inspections.
