Job Summary
We are seeking a Health Physicist for a direct hire, onsite opportunity in Valencia, CA, with travel to Burbank as needed. This role supports a highly regulated medical device and supplies environment where radiation safety, compliance, precision, and operational excellence are critical to daily success.
The Health Physicist will play a key role in maintaining radiological protection programs, supporting production activities, managing radioactive materials and waste processes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, CAL-OSHA, and internal safety requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Provide radiological surveillance support for production activities covered by Special Radiological Work Permits.
- Support radiation safety compliance by monitoring work practices, reviewing procedures, maintaining records, and assisting with regulatory agency communications.
- Collect, prepare, package, assay, and coordinate disposal of radioactive waste, including wastewater processing and permit administration.
- Perform radiation dose calculations, effluent calculations, laboratory assessments, surveys, sealed source inventories, and leak testing.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate radiation survey instruments, including Geiger counters, ion chambers, and related equipment.
- Develop and deliver employee radiation safety training while supporting Health Physics, Safety, CAL-OSHA, and industrial hygiene programs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Pay range: $83,000 to $108,000 per year.
- Hourly range provided: $43.00 to $52.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Onsite role based in Valencia, CA.
- Must be able to work in Valencia and Burbank as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support radiation protection program monitoring and management in a regulated laboratory or production environment.
- Conduct radiation safety surveys, dose assessments, effluent calculations, and radioactive materials tracking.
- Manage radioactive waste handling, sample analysis, packaging, disposal coordination, and documentation.
- Maintain Health Physics records, safety procedures, training materials, and compliance documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics or a related field with radiological laboratory experience required.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in Health Physics-related activities required with a bachelor’s degree.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of radiation safety principles, applicable laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience using Geiger counters, ion chambers, radiation control instruments, meters, and related survey equipment.
- Experience analyzing radioactive samples using ion chamber and liquid scintillation equipment.
- Experience conducting radiation safety surveys and routine Health Physics tasks.
- Ability to calculate and evaluate internal and external radiation doses for employees, visitors, or members of the public.
- Strong math, documentation, oral communication, and written communication skills.
- Strong planning, organization, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Health Physics or a related subject.
- Extensive Health Physics experience in a radiological laboratory, production, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience working directly with regulatory agencies, inspectors, wastewater permits, and radiation safety program audits.
- Experience developing or improving Health Physics, radiation safety, and safety program procedures.
