We’re partnering with a reputable mechanical contractor in Tampa to find experienced Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration Technicians. This role focuses on the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems across a variety of client sites. If you’re skilled in troubleshooting and passionate about keeping systems running smoothly, this is a great opportunity to grow with a stable, hands-on role.
Pay: $35–$45/hr (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (may shift to 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM as needed)
On-Call: Rotating schedule as required
Job Summary:
The HVAC & Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a wide range of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, rooftop units, and more. The technician will ensure all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards, while minimizing downtime and disruptions to client operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Service and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and refrigerated display equipment
• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and ductwork
• Diagnose system issues and provide efficient, cost-effective repairs
• Perform preventative maintenance such as filter changes, coil cleaning, and refrigerant checks
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and service orders
• Inspect and test components such as thermostats, compressors, fans, and electrical circuits
• Work with building automation systems (BAS/DDC) to optimize HVAC performance (a plus)
• Maintain clear documentation of all work performed, including parts used and service recommendations
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with local codes, safety standards, and EPA regulations
• Operate a company-provided vehicle to travel between commercial job sites
• Respond to emergency service calls as part of a rotating on-call schedule
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience as an HVAC & Refrigeration Technician in commercial and industrial settings
• Strong experience with walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and general refrigeration systems
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including rooftop units and split systems
• Proficiency with electrical and control systems (high and low voltage)
• Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC and refrigeration issues independently
• Universal EPA certification required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and in confined spaces
• Must be available for rotating on-call shifts (including occasional nights or weekends)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with building automation systems (BAS/DDC)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification (preferred but not required)
