Job Summary
The HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations while serving as a key liaison between management and union representatives. This role ensures consistent application of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), supports employee relations, and provides guidance to leaders and employees within a unionized workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters in a unionized environment
Act as a liaison between management and union representatives, supporting effective communication and issue resolution
Interpret, apply, and administer collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures
Support grievance administration, investigations, and resolution processes in accordance with union contracts and labor laws
Provide guidance to leaders on contract compliance, disciplinary actions, and performance management
Coordinate with union leadership on workplace issues, changes, and initiatives
Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and offboarding processes in alignment with union requirements
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance
Assist with compliance related to labor laws, workplace policies, and organizational standards
Participate in audits, contract administration activities, and HR reporting as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience working as an HR Generalist in a unionized environment
Strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor relations practices
Understanding of federal and state labor laws, including those applicable to unionized workforces
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills
High level of discretion and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting healthcare, manufacturing, or public sector organizations
Experience supporting grievance processes and labor investigations
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification
Experience partnering with legal counsel or labor relations teams
