A growing construction organization in Poway, CA is seeking a Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a hands-on bookkeeping professional with QuickBooks Desktop experience and subcontractor construction accounting knowledge who can confidently manage daily accounting operations, job costing, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and month-end processes. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage construction progress billings, including AIA billing forms G702 and G703.
- Process accounts payable, subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and project-related expenses with accurate job cost coding.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, support collection efforts, and reconcile customer accounts at month-end and year-end.
- Support payroll and labor costing by ensuring labor hours are accurately recorded and allocated to the correct projects.
- Partner with accounting leadership, project managers, and operations teams to review project costs, analyze variances, and prepare financial reports.
- Maintain organized documentation, support audits and financial reviews, and help improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $85,000 per year starting.
- Compensation review after 90 days.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

- Manage daily full-charge bookkeeping functions for a construction accounting environment.
- Handle billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, payroll support, and month-end accounting activities.
- Track subcontractor compliance, project costs, labor allocation, and construction-related financial documentation.
- Prepare reporting and cost analysis to support project profitability and financial accuracy.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant bookkeeping, accounting, or construction accounting experience.
- Required QuickBooks Desktop accounting experience.
- Required subcontractor construction experience.
- Strong understanding of job costing, cost coding, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end reconciliations.
- Ability to prepare and manage progress billings, including AIA G702 and G703 billing forms.
- Knowledge of payroll support, labor costing, and prevailing wage compliance where applicable.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and accuracy.
- Ability to work closely with project managers, operations teams, and accounting leadership.
- Hands-on bookkeeping mindset with the ability to manage daily accounting operations independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Procore.
- Experience with Textura billing, releases, and related construction payment processes.
- Experience with ADP for payroll.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Prior experience supporting financial reporting, cost analysis, and construction project profitability reviews.
