Construction Full Charge Bookkeeper
ONSITE: Poway, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $85K starting and opportunities for growth!
Duties as follows but not limited to:
Billing & Accounts Receivable
• Prepare and manage progress billings, including AIA billings (G702/G703)
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing in accordance with contract terms
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and monitor - oversee collection efforts
• Reconcile customer accounts at month-end and year-end
Accounts Payable & Cost Management
• Review and process subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and project-related expenses
• Ensure all costs are accurately coded and allocated to the appropriate jobs
• Track subcontractor compliance, including insurance and bonding documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all project costs
Payroll & Labor Costing
• Ensure labor hours are accurately recorded and allocated to the correct projects
• Support payroll processes related to job costing
• Assist with prevailing wage compliance where applicable
Reporting & Financial Analysis
• Partner with Accounting Supervisor, project managers and operations teams to monitor project financial performance
• Analyze project costs, identifying variances.
• Prepare regular financial reports, including cost analysis and profitability insights
• Identify risks or discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
Compliance & Process Improvement
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and contract requirements
• Maintain organized documentation to support audits and financial reviews
• Participate in process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
• Support internal controls related to project accounting and financial reporting
We are not seeking a CPA or accounting expert, but rather a hands-on bookkeeping professional who can confidently manage daily accounting operations and month-end processes.
Qualifications:
Full charge bookkeeping experience within the construction industry, required
QuickBooks Desktop accounting experience, required
Procure, Textura, Billing/Releases, ADP for payroll a plus
Labor compliance and union payroll experience are a plus but not required
Union environment experience preferred but not mandatory
