Job Summary

We are seeking a Freight Management Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in San Clemente, CA. This full-time role is ideal for a logistics professional with 1 to 3 years of experience in global freight management, freight forwarding, transportation coordination, or logistics operations.

This is a newly created position due to company growth and offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on global freight operations across ocean, air, ground, FTL/LTL, and intermodal transportation. The Freight Management Specialist will help coordinate efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of products from origin to destination while working closely with internal teams and external freight partners.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate global freight bookings and shipments across ocean, air, FTL/LTL, ground, and intermodal transportation to support on-time delivery.
- Monitor shipment status, communicate updates, resolve delays or service issues, and serve as a key contact for freight providers and logistics partners.
- Prepare, review, and manage freight documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, manifests, and customs-related documents.
- Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL partners to support service levels, rate structures, and logistics performance.
- Audit freight invoices and coordinate with finance to ensure billing accuracy and timely payment.
- Track freight KPIs, identify cost-saving opportunities, support SOP development, and recommend process improvements across global freight operations.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $72,000 to $78,500 per year.
- Salary may depend on experience.
- Must be willing to work between Orange County and Fontana locations.
- Schedule is flexible and may vary based on business needs, with time expected at both sites.
- Mileage is reimbursed at the standard California mileage reimbursement rate when traveling to the site farther from the employee.
- Toll road costs are reimbursed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Coordinate and execute global freight movements across ocean, air, ground, FTL/LTL, and intermodal modes.
- Manage shipment tracking, freight documentation, provider communication, and exception resolution.
- Support freight invoice audits, logistics reporting, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with internal supply chain, operations, procurement, inventory, customer service, and finance teams.

- 1 to 3 years of experience in global freight management, logistics operations, freight forwarding, or a related transportation function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of global transportation modes, international shipping processes, and freight documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with customs documentation, Incoterms, commercial invoices, bills of lading, freight manifests, and related international logistics practices.
- Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL providers.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems, freight audit or payment tools, and Excel or similar analysis tools.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented problem solver with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel between Orange County and Fontana work sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience interacting with global brokers, carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL partners.
- Knowledge of freight cost optimization strategies, routing guides, transportation compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Experience supporting freight contract discussions, rate benchmarking, claims management, or logistics SOP development.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, production, operations, or supply chain environment.
