Role Summary
Seeking a seasoned safety leader to oversee all aspects of operational safety for a regional fleet. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs that protect personnel, equipment, and the public while supporting efficient transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee adherence to all applicable transportation safety, environmental, and hazardous materials regulations.
Perform recurring audits of vehicles, terminals, and work practices to verify safe operating conditions.
Guide post-incident processes, including immediate response steps, fact-finding, root-cause analysis, and preparation of required documentation.
Develop and roll out safety initiatives, training programs, and operational protocols that strengthen a proactive safety culture.
Evaluate emerging safety tools, technology, and protective equipment; coordinate installation and ensure personnel are properly trained.
Track fleet safety performance and champion strategies that minimize preventable incidents and elevate overall safety standards.
Organize and lead regular safety briefings, driver coaching sessions, and departmental communication meetings.
Qualifications
Proven safety leadership experience in transportation or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in a safety, transportation, or management discipline strongly preferred.
Professional safety certification preferred.
Valid CDL required.
Position Details
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bakersfield, California, with routine travel to fleet locations within two hours of Bakersfield.
