Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced First Article Inspector III for a direct hire opportunity in Valencia, CA within the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. The First Article Inspector III will play a key role in supporting quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams by ensuring parts and processes meet strict customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced First Article Inspections and complex dimensional inspections using precision hand tools and measurement equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product compliance.
- Program, operate, and troubleshoot CMM systems, including Hexagon, Manual, and DCC equipment, using PC-DMIS.
- Create, format, and review FAI documentation and inspection reports for accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
- Investigate dimensional nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
- Provide technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors and support best practices in inspection methods and measurement strategy.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Perform advanced First Article Inspections for aerospace and defense manufacturing components.
- Develop and apply inspection methods based on part geometry, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Support CMM programming, inspection routines, probe setup, fixture alignment, and dimensional validation.
- Review inspection data, troubleshoot rejections, and support quality documentation requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 4+ years of inspection or metrology experience required.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Completed GD&T training course with demonstrated ability to apply all GD&T concepts.
- Experience with PC-DMIS, CMM systems, Keyence equipment, optical comparators, and 3D scanning systems.
- Skilled in precision measurement, inspection reporting, FAI documentation, and dimensional analysis.
- Ability to work independently across a wide range of products and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to support root cause analysis and process improvement.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
- Ability to mentor junior inspectors and share technical knowledge in a professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with complex machined components, tight tolerance inspection, and regulated quality requirements.
- Experience standardizing inspection reports, improving inspection workflows, and supporting measurement system validation.
- Prior experience training, coaching, or mentoring junior inspection team members.
