Rig Technician
Location: California (Primary)
Schedule: Nights, weekends, and overtime as required
Travel: Up to 50%, including international travel
Position Overview
The Rig Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, assembly, modification, and repair of company foundation equipment, with a primary focus on company-specific rigs. This position is primarily based in Texas or California and requires periodic domestic and international travel to customer and company job sites. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and overtime is required.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect equipment for damage, wear, and operational concerns
Perform operational testing of equipment and components
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions in shop and field environments
Disassemble, assemble, clean, and maintain equipment and components
Identify, research, and order required parts
Rig, lift, and move equipment using appropriate tools and lifting devices
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and yard
Properly use, track, and safeguard company tools, equipment, and assets
Travel domestically and internationally to support customer and company job sites
Demonstrate professional conduct at all times
Follow all company, safety, and quality procedures
Actively promote and contribute to a safe work environment
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Education and Training
High school diploma required
Associate’s degree in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or related machinery field preferred, or equivalent experience as deemed acceptable by management
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of directly related training and/or hands-on experience
Technical and Communication Skills
Ability to follow written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions
Ability to communicate inspection results, test findings, and service reports clearly in written and verbal English
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Licenses and Travel Requirements
Valid driver’s license required
Valid passport required
Willingness and ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, including internationally
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crawl, see, read, and hear for extended periods
Physically and mentally capable of working in shop, office, and job site environments
Ability to safely operate heavy machinery, cranes, lifting equipment, vehicles, computers, and diagnostic tools
