Job Summary
We are seeking an Express Service Writer for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Bakersfield, CA. This role is the primary point of contact for customers visiting the Express Service department and plays a key role in creating a smooth, professional, and positive service experience from vehicle check-in through delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly, review service needs, and provide a professional first impression in the service drive.
- Open, update, and maintain accurate repair orders using the dealership management system.
- Perform vehicle walk-around inspections, document vehicle condition, and communicate recommended maintenance services.
- Coordinate with technicians and parts personnel to monitor repair progress and keep customers informed.
- Present service recommendations, pricing, completion estimates, and warranty information clearly and professionally.
- Follow up with customers regarding declined services, pending repairs, future maintenance, and satisfaction.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $19.00 to $20.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage customer check-in, service write-up, repair order documentation, and vehicle delivery.
- Coordinate repair progress between customers, technicians, and parts personnel.
- Communicate maintenance recommendations, pricing, approvals, delays, and completed services.
- Support appointment scheduling, incoming calls, service campaigns, recalls, and customer retention activities.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience preferred.
- Previous dealership or service writing experience required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn dealership software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely enter and exit customer vehicles and work in varying weather conditions within an active service-drive environment.
Require Qualifications
THIS IS NOT A CUSTOMER SERVICE / REATIL POSITION EXPERINCE IN DEALERSHIP IS REQUIRED
- Automotive service advising experience.
- Dealership service department experience.
- Familiarity with manufacturer maintenance schedules, service campaigns, and recalls.
- Experience using dealership management systems or repair order software.
