Role Summary


Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Estimator plays a key role in shaping successful project bids by developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for custom fabrication work across industrial and commercial projects. This position directly impacts win rates and profitability by translating complex project documentation into clear, data-driven pricing strategies that support both customer needs and company goals. This is a high-impact, direct hire opportunity offering up to $140K DOE.




Responsibilities

> Review project documentation and collaborate with the salesperson to fully understand scope and requirements

> Utilize estimating software such as

> QuickPen, Autobid Mechanical, and Tekla PowerFab to prepare detailed cost estimates, including developing line-item pricing and ensuring alignment with customer expectations and company profitability goals

> Obtain, analyze, and compare vendor and subcontractor pricing to support competitive and accurate estimating

> Prepare complete project documentation for internal handoff and client-facing bid packages

> Participate in project turnover and kickoff meetings to ensure smooth transition into production

> Assist with preparation and review of project drawings and technical specifications Perform periodic reviews of actual versus estimated costs and adjust estimating systems and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency

> Enter and track incoming bid requests and communicate bid participation status to customers

> Support Project Managers with material takeoffs and assist in forecasting total project costs at completion



Qualifications

> 1–3+ years of estimating experience in custom fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment (3+ years preferred)

> Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications

> Experience working with estimating software or similar systems (QuickPen, Autobid Mechanical, Tekla PowerFab preferred)

> Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, scanner, copier)

> Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs when required in manufacturing environment

> Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills

> Strong communication skills for vendor and internal coordination
