Build the Infrastructure That Keeps Our Community Running

Are you passionate about engineering, mapping, and seeing your work come to life in the field? Whether you’re just launching your career or ready to step into a journey-level role, this is your chance to make a real impact on public infrastructure while growing alongside experienced engineers and technicians.

We’re hiring Engineering Technicians I & II to support critical District projects through hands-on fieldwork, drafting, GIS mapping, inspections, and technical support. If you enjoy variety, problem-solving, and working both indoors and outdoors—this role delivers.

What You’ll Do:

Depending on your level, you’ll support or independently perform a wide range of engineering and field activities, including:

Perform field engineering and surveying work: measurements, sampling, testing, stream gauging, fire flow tests, and inspections

Create and maintain engineering drawings, maps, and datasets using CADD and GIS

Collect, analyze, summarize, and document technical data

Prepare schematics, plans, profiles, record drawings, and reports

Support capital improvement and development projects by coordinating with engineers, operations staff, contractors, and public agencies

Assist with regulatory reporting and engineering documentation

Maintain accurate engineering files, logs, and project records

Provide responsive, professional service to customers and stakeholders

Engineering Technician II staff take on more complex assignments, manage multiple projects, exercise independent judgment, and may review the work of others.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Career progression built in: Engineering Technician I may advance to II after two years with demonstrated proficiency

Hands-on learning with real-world infrastructure projects

Varied workdays—office, field, drafting, and collaboration

Meaningful public service with visible community impact

Work with modern tools, technology, and experienced professionals

What You Bring:

Associate’s degree in engineering or a related field

Strong interest or experience in drafting, GIS, surveying, and field engineering

Ability to interpret plans, maps, specifications, and technical documents

Comfortable working independently or as part of a team

Strong math, organization, and communication skills

Experience Requirements

Engineering Technician I: Entry-level; no experience required

Engineering Technician II: Two years of experience equivalent to Engineering Technician I
