We are seeking an experienced Energy Analyst for a direct hire opportunity with a privately owned, founder and employee-held energy management firm in San Leandro, CA. This role is ideal for an analytical professional who enjoys working with utility data, rate optimization, energy savings models, and client-focused recommendations in the energy and utilities industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer utility rates and determine whether more advantageous rate options are available.
- Build and use Excel models to calculate potential energy savings and support rate optimization recommendations.
- Generate true-up reports, review existing audits, and identify abnormalities in usage data through client benchmarking.
- Facilitate the utility audit process, including communication around out-of-the-norm rate changes and special cases.
- Review third-party rate optimization and bill audit calculations for accuracy and business impact.
- Identify potential opportunities related to Utility User Tax overpayment or exemption and assist in building utility audit models.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 to $91,000 per year.

- Analyze utility rates, tariffs, and customer usage data to identify cost savings opportunities.
- Develop Excel-based energy savings models and audit calculations.
- Prepare true-up reports, utility audit findings, and rate optimization recommendations.
- Support utility communications, special rate cases, and client benchmarking projects.
- Four-year degree required.
- 10+ years of professional experience preferred for this level of opportunity, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to build and review analytical models.
- Ability to understand and interpret utility and CCA rate tariffs.
- Excellent research, follow-up, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and analyze work for accuracy.
- Logical, analytical thinker who can process complex information and make practical recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SQL, Salesforce, and Microsoft Access.
- Experience with utility billing, rate analysis, bill audits, or energy management.
- Exposure to Utility User Tax analysis, exemptions, or overpayment reviews.
- Experience supporting clients in energy, utilities, sustainability, or cost optimization environments.
