We are seeking an experienced Eligibility Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Pleasanton, CA with a progressive third-party administrator supporting union health and welfare benefits. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, customer service professional with experience in medical, insurance, benefits, eligibility, or claims administration.
The Eligibility Clerk will support members and participants by handling customer service calls, preparing enrollment packets, processing applications, and maintaining accurate eligibility documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming customer service calls and return calls in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
- Prepare enrollment packets and related eligibility documentation for members and participants.
- Mail, receive, review, and process applications accurately and within established timelines.
- Support eligibility, benefits, and member service workflows in a fast-paced administrative environment.
- Maintain organized records and follow internal procedures to ensure accurate processing.
- Assist with miscellaneous administrative duties and special requests as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $76,585 per year.
- Job type: Temp-to-hire.
- Location: Pleasanton, CA.
- Provide customer service support for members, participants, and related contacts.
- Prepare and process enrollment packets, applications, and eligibility documentation.
- Maintain accurate administrative records and complete time-sensitive processing tasks.
- Support daily office operations in a health and welfare benefits administration environment.
- 5+ years of customer service experience, preferably in the medical, insurance, benefits, or related industry.
- High school diploma required.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
- Positive team player with a motivated, self-starting work style.
- Ability to remain professional, courteous, and effective under pressure.
- Proven reliability, strong attendance, and consistent follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher.
- Experience with health and welfare benefits, union benefits administration, eligibility processing, medical office administration, insurance claims, or third-party administrator operations.
