We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Purchasing Specialist to ensure the timely availability of materials necessary for project success. In this role, your expertise in the field will enable you to assess project needs effectively, review material requirements, gather competitive quotes, and manage purchase orders to align with project timelines. When faced with tight schedules, you will seek creative solutions to ensure continued project progress. You will play a pivotal role in reducing supply chain risks, maintaining vendor partnerships, ensuring accurate documentation, and optimizing cost management. As part of a high-performing Procurement Team, your contributions will significantly support the organization’s operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Planning: Proactively coordinate material reservations to ensure alignment with project schedules, managing vendor relationships to minimize delays and meet specifications.

Sourcing and Cost Optimization: Identify alternative material suppliers and cost-saving strategies, presenting viable options to project teams to improve material availability and cost-effectiveness.

Inventory Management: Collaborate with teams managing materials and equipment to streamline inventory processes, reduce surplus, and enhance cost efficiency.

Request for Quotes (RFQs): Lead the solicitation of RFQs for purchases exceeding $10K. Evaluate vendor responses, considering factors like total cost, delivery terms, and historical performance.

Purchase Order Management: Oversee the creation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring materials are delivered on time and terms are documented correctly for budget accuracy and financial projections.

Additional Responsibilities:

Team Support: Assist with expediting material deliveries and resolving discrepancies, working closely with the Procurement Expeditor and Coordinator.

Communication: Provide regular updates on material statuses and procurement activities, ensuring clarity and addressing any concerns that may arise.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Develop strong working relationships with various teams to foster smooth procurement and operational processes.

Vendor Relationship Management: Maintain productive vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with purchase order commitments and resolving any related issues.

Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements within the procurement team to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and implement best practices.

Safety and Compliance: Foster a safety-focused culture by ensuring that materials are managed in accordance with all relevant safety regulations.

Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as required by the department’s needs.

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

At least 7 years of hands-on experience in electrical work, ideally within industrial or commercial settings.

Familiarity with electrical construction materials and the ability to explore alternative vendors is beneficial, but not mandatory.

3 years of procurement experience is preferred, but not required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
