Job Summary

An established and growing Southern California electrical and heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support complex water, wastewater, infrastructure, and heavy civil construction projects. This is a direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented estimating professional who understands electrical scopes, construction sequencing, and the importance of accurate, competitive bids.

The Electrical Estimator will join a collaborative preconstruction team and work closely with Project Managers, general contractors, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to technically challenging projects involving power distribution, controls, instrumentation, underground systems, and process equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed electrical estimates for water/wastewater treatment facilities, infrastructure projects, and heavy civil construction work.
- Review project drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, MCC and VFD schedules, lighting plans, grounding plans, site plans, network diagrams, and riser diagrams.
- Perform electrical takeoffs for medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, panels, PLCs, instrumentation, controls, duct banks, raceways, and related systems.
- Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, supplier, general conditions, and special conditions pricing.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing to support competitive bid preparation.
- Partner with Project Managers during preconstruction to support budgets, schedules, bid reviews, and final proposal development.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $95,000 to $130,000 per year.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Full-time, office-based role.
- Office opportunities available in Escondido, CA or Corona, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Estimate electrical scopes for water/wastewater, infrastructure, and heavy civil construction projects.
- Build detailed takeoffs and pricing for power distribution, controls, instrumentation, underground raceways, duct banks, and process equipment.
- Support bid development through plan review, quantity takeoffs, vendor and subcontractor coordination, and final estimate preparation.
- Work closely with Project Managers and preconstruction stakeholders to support project budgets, schedules, and competitive proposals.

- 5+ years of construction estimating experience in water/wastewater, heavy civil, infrastructure, or closely related construction.
- Strong electrical takeoff and estimating experience.
- Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, schedules, site plans, and related construction documents.
- Understanding of multiple construction disciplines, construction sequencing, and project delivery requirements.
- Experience developing estimates used to establish project budgets and schedules.
- Experience soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Ability to identify and price General Conditions and Special Conditions.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong communication, organization, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, clients, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Preferred Qualifications

- McCormick Estimating Software experience.
- Design-Build project experience.
- CMAR project experience.
- Experience estimating projects involving confined spaces, phased shutdowns, bypass pumping, complex installations, and compressed schedules.
- Experience with water and wastewater treatment plant electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and process equipment.
