Job Summary

A Dallas-based commercial millwork manufacturing environment is seeking a Draftsman / Engineer - Commercial Millwork for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced CAD Draftsman, Cabinet Vision Engineer, or millwork engineering professional who enjoys turning architectural plans and project estimates into accurate, buildable shop drawing packages.

The Draftsman / Engineer will support custom commercial millwork projects from design interpretation through CNC production, fabrication, and installation coordination. This is an on-site role within a collaborative, team-oriented setting where engineering, project management, and production teams work closely together to deliver high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

- Create detailed commercial millwork shop drawings, layouts, sections, details, and assemblies from architectural plans, specifications, and project estimates.
- Define materials, dimensions, joinery, component relationships, and construction details to produce accurate and buildable drawing packages.
- Identify design conflicts, missing information, constructability concerns, and field coordination issues, then develop practical solutions.
- Generate drawings and data outputs to support CNC manufacturing, fabrication, and installation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, production teams, and shop personnel to align drawings with scope, schedule, budget, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Maintain drafting standards, improve workflows, incorporate feedback, and ensure deliverables are complete, consistent, and accurate.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Develop commercial millwork shop drawing packages from architectural plans and project estimates.
- Support CNC-based production workflows through accurate drawings, details, and manufacturing data.
- Coordinate technical details with Project Managers, production teams, and shop personnel.
- Resolve design, constructability, and production issues to keep projects moving forward.

- 6 to 10 years of relevant drafting, engineering, or commercial millwork experience preferred.
- Experience as a CAD Draftsman, Cabinet Vision Engineer, Millwork Engineer, or similar role in commercial millwork.
- Proficiency with Cabinet Vision and/or CAD software.
- Strong understanding of millwork materials, construction methods, joinery, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Experience supporting CNC-based manufacturing workflows.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to drawing accuracy and quality.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and constructability review skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication skills with project management, engineering, production, and shop teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Microvellum.
- Prior experience in commercial millwork for residential, commercial, office, or custom interior construction projects.
- Experience improving drafting standards, engineering workflows, or production efficiency.
- Familiarity with field conditions, installation coordination, and fabrication feedback loops.
