Job Summary

A leading manufacturer in the block, hardscape, and construction materials industry is seeking a Dispatcher / Customer Service Representative for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Riverside, CA. This role is ideal for a customer-focused operations professional who enjoys coordinating deliveries, supporting yard and inventory activity, and helping contractors, customers, and internal teams stay organized.

The Dispatcher will play a key role in daily plant and dispatch operations by managing customer orders, coordinating will-call and scheduled deliveries, communicating with sales and credit teams, and maintaining accurate dispatch records. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with supportive leadership, strong operational structure, and the opportunity to build a long-term career with a stable company serving residential and commercial construction customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate with yard personnel to verify inventory, update out-of-stock information, tag product, and prioritize will-call and delivery orders.
- Communicate with customers by phone and at the counter to receive orders, provide product guidance, prepare shippers, and support order accuracy.
- Coordinate with credit, outside sales, and outside carriers regarding account issues, quotes, delivery needs, quality concerns, samples, and jobsite requests.
- Maintain dispatch logs, tickets, quote records, inventory records, and other operational documentation.
- Process checks, verify payment information, support refund activity, and direct customer inquiries to the appropriate internal contacts.
- Assist with switchboard coverage, receptionist duties, tool inventory, slump cap orders, customer service follow-up, and other administrative support as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Coordinate daily dispatch activity, delivery priorities, and will-call order flow.
- Support customer service at the counter and by phone for product orders and inquiries.
- Maintain accurate dispatch logs, tickets, shippers, quotes, and operational records.
- Communicate with yard, sales, credit, carriers, and customers to resolve order and delivery needs.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant dispatch, customer service, operations, or construction materials experience.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist contractors, dealers, and walk-in customers professionally.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced production, yard, or dispatch environment.
- Strong attention to detail when preparing shippers, logging tickets, verifying orders, and maintaining records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with internal teams, outside carriers, and customers.
- Basic administrative and computer skills, including data entry, recordkeeping, phone coverage, and order documentation.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures related to quotes, payments, refunds, inventory, and customer requests.
- Professional, reliable, organized, and team-oriented approach to daily operations.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in construction materials, block, hardscape, masonry, concrete, landscaping supply, or building products.
- Previous experience coordinating deliveries with outside carriers or yard operations.
- Familiarity with will-call orders, scheduled deliveries, inventory counts, and customer order processing.
- Bilingual communication skills may be helpful in a customer-facing construction or yard environment.
