Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Dispatcher for a contract/temporary opportunity in Albany, NY. This onsite role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced customer support environment and enjoys helping people during urgent roadside situations.
The Dispatcher will coordinate fleet vehicles and contracted service providers to ensure members receive timely emergency road service. This position offers the opportunity to work with a supportive operations team, develop dispatching and customer service skills, and contribute to a service-driven environment where communication, teamwork, and sound judgment are valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming emergency road service calls and dispatch tow trucks or service providers to appropriate locations.
- Prioritize calls based on safety, weather, traffic, location, emergency status, and required response times.
- Monitor fleet driver activity, productivity, breaks, and performance using dispatch and tracking systems.
- Communicate with members, affiliate clubs, contractors, drivers, and internal teams to coordinate service approvals and updates.
- Monitor phone queues, follow service procedures, respond to requests, and assist with escalated member concerns.
- Support administrative tasks, training assistance, battery inventory scans, and investigation support for towing damage complaints.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $20 to $21 per hour.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: Onsite in Albany, NY 12209.
- Schedule: Must be flexible to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime as required. Schedule may change based on business needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Coordinate emergency road service dispatch for fleet vehicles and contracted providers.
- Prioritize and route service calls to support timely, safe, and efficient response.
- Monitor driver activity, phone queues, service levels, and member communication.
- Support customer service, escalation handling, administrative follow-up, and dispatch operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred, including dispatching, call-taking, customer service, or similar support experience.
- Basic automotive knowledge required.
- Strong phone etiquette, customer service skills, patience, and empathy when assisting people in stressful situations.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including email, data entry, Google Maps, and other mapping tools.
- Ability to learn and use dispatch, fleet tracking, and performance monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of the Capital District, surrounding counties, and rural areas.
- Ability to work at a computer and remain seated at a desk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous dispatching and/or emergency roadside call-taking experience.
- Experience using fleet tracking, dispatch, customer service, or mapping systems.
- Familiarity with roadside assistance, towing, fleet operations, or automotive service environments.
