The Director Nursing is responsible for all health care operations of the skilled nursing facility that the incumbent oversees. The core operations include personnel development and over-site, patient care and clinical outcomes, expense management, and legal compliance. Direct supervision and delegation of departmental functions to management staff is critical for success. As such, advanced technical nursing skills, in depth medical language terminology, supervisory nursing experience, and working knowledge of long term care administrative responsibilities, are required for effective leadership of this department. The Director reports professionally to the Administrator and effectively communicates department status and needs with other clinical directors. Policies and procedures must be cooperatively standardized inter-departmentally to meet the needs of all patients regardless of physical limitations/mental impairments, plus reflect the organization’s beliefs based on its mission, vision, and values. It is the Director Nursing’s responsibility to ensure departmental staff operates in accordance with local, state, and Federal regulations.
1. Lead the Nursing Division. Direct and delegate managerial functions to supporting management to ensure proper staff supervision, staffing, and quality patient care delivery. Provide team leadership as required to develop and maintain core staff competence and superior employee morale.
• Develop a comprehensive departmental nursing program highlighting key goals, objectives, and responsibilities of the management team.
• Employ and enforce performance management techniques to guide achievement of established goals, objectives, and responsibilities. Ensure comprehensive assessment of performance of nursing staff, recognizing achievement or taking remedial action as warranted.
• Mentor management team and nursing staff by providing ongoing, constructive feedback.
• Create, maintain, update and demonstrate departmental policies and procedures for patient care, staff safety, and regulatory adherence.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Possession of a current Florida State Registered Nurse License.
• Three years geriatric nursing experience.
• Two years’ supervisory nursing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Advanced degree in nursing preferred.
• Proven organizational and project management attributes.
• Intermediate computer knowledge – Microsoft office, electronic medical records.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities characterized by patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and genuine enthusiasm.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to delegate and oversee the work of others.

Additional Skills
