Job Summary
A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Director of Finance to join its executive leadership team in a direct hire role. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced nonprofit finance leader to partner closely with the President, Board, Finance Committee, and senior leadership team to strengthen financial systems, support strategic planning, and guide long-term organizational sustainability.
The Director of Finance will oversee financial administration, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, grant accounting, audit readiness, compliance, and internal controls for an organization supporting Washington’s manufacturing industry through consulting, advocacy, and public-private partnerships. This role is ideal for a strategic finance professional who enjoys both hands-on financial oversight and executive-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial administration, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and fiscal grant management.
- Partner with the President, leadership team, Board, and Finance Committee to support strategic planning, financial decision-making, KPI development, and organizational sustainability.
- Oversee accounting processes and controls, including client billing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, purchasing, reconciliations, and annual reporting.
- Manage nonprofit grant accounting, government contract compliance, funding allocations, cost allocation tables, restricted and unrestricted funds, and financial reporting requirements.
- Prepare and oversee tax filings, IRS Form 990, annual audits, financial policies, internal control reviews, and compliance with federal, state, GAAP, and grant-related requirements.
- Supervise and mentor a full-time accounting officer while promoting financial accountability across departments through variance reviews and monthly forecast discussions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $130,000 to $150,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management for a nonprofit organization.
- Manage grant accounting, government funding compliance, restricted and unrestricted funding, and cost allocation processes.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with executive leadership, the Board, and Finance Committee to support strategic planning and financial accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including audit experience.
- Extensive experience in nonprofit finance and operations.
- Proven experience managing an annual budget of at least $3 million.
- Strong expertise in government accounting, grants management, and nonprofit funding structures.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, audits, IRS Form 990 requirements, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with ERP accounting systems.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including the ability to mentor accounting staff and ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Strong financial analysis, long-range planning, annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and cash flow management skills.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with board members, staff, donors, partners, auditors, and financial stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification preferred.
- Experience working with nonprofit legal structures related to financial management.
- Experience supporting organizations with multiple funding sources, including government contracts, restricted grants, unrestricted grants, and in-kind support.
