About the Role
The Director of Finance is a senior leadership position responsible for guiding the financial health, compliance, and long-term sustainability of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role blends strategic financial leadership with hands-on oversight of accounting operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and effective financial planning.

This position is ideal for a proactive finance leader with nonprofit experience who can partner across departments, support executive decision-making, and continuously improve financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Planning
Drive the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting in collaboration with department leaders.
Oversee cash flow management to support organizational stability and strategic priorities.
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO, leadership team, and finance committee, providing insights that support planning and growth.

Reporting, Compliance & Audit Management
Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal financial regulations.
Lead audit preparation, coordinate with external auditors, and implement follow-up actions.
Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.

Accounting & Financial Operations
Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Manage month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
Maintain banking relationships, vendor agreements, and treasury activities.
Ensure effective use and integrity of financial systems and tools such as QuickBooks and Monday.com.

Collaboration & Process Improvement
Partner with internal teams to monitor budget performance, track spending, and provide actionable financial insights.
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, controls, and reporting processes within Finance.
Develop and document financial policies and procedures to support consistency and transparency.
Promote accountability and continuous improvement across financial operations.
Operational & Employee Lifecycle Support
Maintain financial and personnel-related records as required.
Oversee compliance documentation and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
Support employee offboarding processes.
Ensure CRM financial data aligns accurately with QuickBooks and partner records.
Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational objectives.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
Expertise in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn Monday.com
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis/modeling
Proven experience managing audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
Strong track record of maintaining accurate financial records aligned with nonprofit best practices
