POSITION
We are hiring the Director of Business Development for a Raleigh-based statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit association. The Director of Business Development leads and grows the Association’s revenue-generating programs, including Corporate Partnerships, Honorary Membership, Inmate Medical Costs Management, Digital Marketing, and Procurement. This role works closely with the executive leadership team to execute the Association’s strategic business plan and advance new business development initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development
• Plan and execute marketing, advertising, and promotional strategies with internal teams and vendors.
• Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for all revenue-generating programs.
• Create and manage project plans to meet timelines, deliverables, and objectives.
• Research and evaluate new initiatives and industry trends.
• Establish performance metrics and conduct ongoing program evaluations.
• Collaborate with other state associations to identify strategic partnerships and growth opportunities.
Honorary Membership & Digital Marketing Programs
• Oversee strategy and daily operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and revenue growth.
• Manage relationships with vendors and consultants.
• Provide strategic guidance on donor trends, solicitation strategies, and fundraising enhancements.
• Lead annual strategy and performance reviews with fundraising consultants.
Corporate Partner & Event Sponsorship Programs
• Drive sponsorship and fundraising performance aligned with the Association’s mission.
• Develop, cultivate, and manage strategic corporate partnerships.
• Lead sponsorship strategy, proposals, and stewardship to ensure measurable value.
• Supervise the Coordinator – Business Development.
• Oversee annual exhibit halls with 100+ booths per event.
Procurement Programs
• Direct and oversee all procurement programs, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and service quality.
• Manage vendor, contractor, and advisor relationships, including 500+ contractors.
• Supervise staff supporting sheriffs’ offices and local governments nationwide.
• Oversee bid implementation and support the Fleet Advisory Committee.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable procurement laws and program terms.
Inmate Medical Costs Management Plan
• Oversee administration and daily operations of the Plan.
• Serve as the primary resource to sheriffs’ offices on off-site inmate medical claims.
• Manage the cost-containment vendor relationship and program marketing.
• Coordinate with vendors and counties to ensure accurate, timely claim payments and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of leadership and supervisory experience.
• Proven financial leadership, budgeting, and analytical experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business technology.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Able to build and maintain senior-level client, partner, and stakeholder relationships.
