Job Title: Director of Accounting

Reports to: Vice President

Brief Job Description:

Responsible for providing leadership and effective administrative oversight in the planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control of the Accounting Department. Ensures optimal efficiency in accordance with established procedures and supports the achievement of the company’s financial goals and objectives. Duties are performed personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes but is not limited to the following. Other tasks may be assigned.

• Administer, plan, coordinate, direct, control, and supervise all accounting activities aimed at achieving the company’s financial goals.
• Direct and coordinate the implementation of processes, practices, and work procedures to ensure effective departmental performance.
• Oversee and control operating expenses by establishing and monitoring internal control procedures.
• Advise senior management on matters related to asset administration and recommend operational adjustments.
• Prepare and maintain financial and fiscal records and reports in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Manage payroll processing, including payroll reporting and tax contributions.
• Safeguard and maintain accounting records, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare reports summarizing financial position, revenues, expenses, and profits.
• Lead the preparation of the annual budget, income projections, and depreciation schedules for approval.
• Conduct physical inventory audits and review inventory entries for accuracy.
• Manage fixed assets and supervise the proper application of depreciation guidelines.
• Direct and coordinate cost-reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, norms, and procedures.
• Represent the company before regulatory agencies, banks, insurance companies, attorneys, and external auditors.
• Coordinate training programs for staff under supervision.
• Promote a safe workplace and oversee the company’s Safety and Health Program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises department managers and indirectly supervises their staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance evaluations; applying recognition and disciplinary measures; fostering a respectful and harmonious work environment; and resolving complaints and problems.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred, and at least five years of experience in a similar leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of modern principles and practices of administration and supervision.
• Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles and practices.
• Experience with accounting operations in retail or manufacturing industries preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of current laws and regulations related to accounting and finance.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, evaluate, and supervise staff effectively.
• Strong analytical skills for technical and administrative matters.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to promote teamwork and maintain strong working relationships.
• Proficiency in computer applications and accounting systems.
