Job Summary:
The De-burr Technician is responsible for effectively removing sharp metal edges from machined parts by utilizing various finishing methods and without changing the shape or dimension of the part.

Core Responsibilities:
• Use appropriate method to remove machined part’s sharp edges in accordance with the blueprints or schematics. Methods include filing, sanding, de-burring, blending, cleaning, grinding, masking, bead blasting, and polishing.
• Blend/polish machined parts to match surrounding surfaces, blend/remove sharp edges, and break edges on parts before hand-finishing repaired areas.
• Use hand and power tools to finish metal parts.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure the final size, shape and details are correct per the specifications.
• Assemble finished components.
• Follow work instructions and blueprints to meet quality standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• The ability to constantly grip, squeeze, pinch, turn wrists, and manually spin parts to ensure parts are free of burrs, rough edges, or other defects.
• Ability to use manual air operated and electric hand tools.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with familiarity of machine shop tools and equipment.
• Strong visual measuring skills.
• Must demonstrate comprehension of oral instructions and directives provided, as well as the ability to communicate information and ideas effectively to others.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, in accordance with the eligibility requirements of Federal Aviation Administration
• All maintenance and inspection-related positions are required to submit to pre-employment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing, in accordance with
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years de-burring experience using pneumatic and hand tools required.
• Machining experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Required to stand for prolonged lengths of time, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.
• Continually utilize fingers and hands to manipulate equipment controls and make manual adjustments.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently required to move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally will be required to move over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Regularly required to utilize close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Regular exposure to noise from machines, equipment, and tools.
