Job Summary

A professional services organization is seeking a Remote Customer Service Rep, Gas & Electric for a full-time, long-term temporary assignment supporting residential and commercial utility customers. This role is ideal for a dependable customer service professional who enjoys helping people, resolving account questions, and working in a fast-paced inbound call center environment.

As a Customer Service Representative, you will assist customers with natural gas and electric service inquiries, billing questions, payment arrangements, service requests, and account updates. This opportunity offers the ability to work from home while being part of a structured, team-oriented environment with training, coaching, supportive leadership, and clear service procedures to help you succeed.

Candidates must live within 40 miles of Canonsburg, PA, and be able to report onsite when remote work is not possible.

Key Responsibilities

- Answer a high volume of inbound customer calls in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner.
- Assist residential and commercial customers with billing questions, account inquiries, payment arrangements, and service-related requests.
- Process new service, transfers, disconnections, account updates, and other utility service transactions.
- Provide accurate information regarding natural gas and electric services, customer programs, company policies, and service procedures.
- Document customer interactions, account changes, and service requests accurately in company systems.
- Escalate complex issues, coordinate with internal departments, and support customers during outages or service interruptions.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $24.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Handle inbound utility customer calls related to billing, account service, payment arrangements, and general inquiries.
- Process customer service requests, account updates, service transfers, new connections, and disconnections.
- Document customer interactions accurately while navigating multiple systems during live calls.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate complex issues when needed.

- Previous customer service experience is required.
- Call center experience.
- 1 to 2 years of customer service, client care, call center, or related experience.
- Experience handling inbound customer calls and assisting customers with questions, concerns, or account issues.
- Strong verbal communication, active listening, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of calls while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Strong computer navigation, data entry, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems while speaking with customers.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Ability to handle difficult customer interactions calmly and professionally.
- Must be dependable, organized, and able to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate as part of a team.
- Must live within 40 miles of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
- Must have reliable transportation to commute onsite when required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in utilities, telecommunications, billing, banking, financial services, or another customer-focused industry.
- Prior experience supporting residential or commercial customer accounts.
- Experience assisting customers with payment arrangements, service requests, or account troubleshooting.
- Comfort working in a structured call center environment with quality standards, coaching, and performance expectations.
