Job Summary

A growing food and beverage production organization in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Credit & Collections Clerk to join its accounting and finance team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented collections professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who enjoys customer communication, account research, payment follow-up, and cross-functional teamwork.

The Credit & Collections Clerk will play an important role in supporting healthy cash flow, resolving account issues, and helping ensure customer orders are released accurately and on time. This position offers the chance to work in a stable, team-focused environment with supportive leadership, professional communication standards, and strong collaboration across accounting, customer service, shipping, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Contact delinquent accounts to request payment, document communication, and maintain accurate collection records.
- Review aged accounts receivable reports, cash receipts reports, credit limits, payment terms, and account status daily.
- Research customer disputes, billing discrepancies, invoice questions, payment issues, and delivery-related concerns.
- Work with internal departments to support accurate shipment authorization, order release, and payment collection.
- Prepare and send payment-related correspondence, including overlooked payment, double payment, and short payment letters.
- Place accounts on hold when appropriate and prepare seriously delinquent accounts for referral to collections.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $50,000 to $65,000 per year.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage daily collection activity for delinquent customer accounts.
- Review accounts receivable aging, cash receipts, credit limits, and payment terms.
- Research billing discrepancies, shipment confirmations, account disputes, and payment issues.
- Support order release and account hold decisions based on established credit guidelines.

- 3 to 5 years of experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or a related accounting support role.
- Strong ability to follow up with customers, resolve collections issues, and close outstanding balances efficiently.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong math, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills with a polite, friendly, and customer-focused approach.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines, reminders, documentation, and follow-up activity.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling customer financial records and account information.
- Active listening skills, empathy, positive attitude, and the ability to respond effectively to customer needs.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the food and beverage production, distribution, manufacturing, or consumer goods industry.
- Experience reviewing accounts receivable aging reports and supporting shipment release decisions.
- Familiarity with business-to-business collections, credit holds, payment terms, and customer account reconciliation.
