Job Summary

A growing business services organization is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Credit Assistant to support the Director of Credit and the broader credit and finance team. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a candidate with 1 to 2 years of accounts receivable, billing, or commercial credit experience who is ready to build a long-term career in credit operations and risk management.

The Credit Assistant will play an important role in processing commercial credit applications, maintaining accurate customer account data, supporting preliminary notice and lien documentation, and helping resolve contractor billing inquiries. This position offers a stable, professional work environment with supportive leadership, strong teamwork, and opportunities to gain valuable experience in B2B credit, construction-related billing, and finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and process new commercial credit applications from contractors and distributors, including verification of trade and bank references.
- Maintain accurate customer profiles, credit limits, payment terms, and account details within ERP and CRM systems.
- Assist with project preliminary notice and lien support by verifying project information, job locations, and property ownership details.
- Review accounts receivable aging reports to identify past-due accounts and coordinate follow-up activity with the Collection Manager.
- Research and resolve billing inquiries, payment discrepancies, short payments, and missing invoice documentation.
- Gather data and assist with monthly credit summaries, reporting, and portfolio health updates for management.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Process commercial B2B credit applications and prepare complete credit packages for management review.
- Maintain customer master data, credit limits, terms, and account updates in ERP and CRM systems.
- Support accounts receivable monitoring, billing inquiry resolution, and documentation follow-up.
- Assist with preliminary notice and lien-related information verification.

- 1 to 3 years of experience in commercial credit, accounts receivable, billing, or a related finance support role.
- Experience working in a high-volume B2B credit or customer account environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
- Ability to review financial and account information with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and diplomatic approach.
- High school diploma required.
- Ability to work effectively with internal sales teams, finance colleagues, contractors, and external business contacts.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in manufacturing, construction, building materials, distribution, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with construction billing, progress payments, preliminary notices, or lien support processes.
- Experience using ERP software such as Epicor Kinetics.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics.
- College-level coursework in accounting, finance, or business administration.
