Job Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Charleston, SC
Compensation: $25–$29 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Type: Long-term Contract with Potential for Permanent Placement

We are a recruiting and staffing agency partnering with a state government department to fill a Cost Accountant position. This role offers stability, a professional work environment, and the opportunity to transition to permanent state employment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze cost reports, budgets, and forecasts

Monitor and track project and departmental expenses

Perform variance analysis and recommend corrective actions

Maintain accurate cost accounting records and documentation

Support management with financial reporting and decision-making

Ensure compliance with state policies, procedures, and accounting standards

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
