Controller – Multi Entity Operations
Compensation: $150,000 – $190,000 annually
Job Type: Full time Location: Fresno, California (On site)
A fast growing, multi entity organization operating in Fresno is has partnered with AppleOne to hire their new Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This confidential search is for a strategic, hands on leader with deep technical accounting expertise and the ability to manage complex financial structures in a dynamic, diversified environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capabilities, and advanced proficiency with ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
• Lead all accounting functions across multiple entities, including general ledger oversight, month end and year end close, and consolidated financial reporting.
• Ensure full compliance with GAAP and industry specific accounting standards.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
Operational Accounting
• Manage fuel related accounting: inventory reconciliation, cost/price changes, fuel taxes, and margin analysis.
• Oversee convenience store accounting, including daily sales reporting, credit card reconciliation, and shrink analysis.
• Lead real estate accounting functions: job costing, fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, lease administration, and rent roll reporting.
ERP Systems
• Serve as the internal subject matter expert with ERP Systems, including configuration, reporting, and optimization.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and implement automation.
• Collaborate with IT and operations to integrate systems and support multi entity scalability.
Leadership & Mentoring
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, support performance management and professional development.
• Partner with operations, fuel procurement, real estate development, HR, and executive leadership to support strategic decision making.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions for audits, tax filings, and financing activities.
Risk Management
• Manage business insurance programs, including obtaining quotes, coordinating renewals, and maintaining coverage across general liability, property, auto, builder’s risk, workers’ compensation, cyber, and other policies.
• Serve as the primary liaison with insurance brokers and carriers.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong technical accounting background with deep GAAP knowledge.
• Proven experience in multi entity corporate structures.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• CPA Certification Preferred.
