Controller – Manufacturing & Distribution

Overview:
Our client, a growing manufacturing and distribution company, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function and partner closely with ownership. This is a highly operational role with a strong focus on inventory, cost accounting, and building structure within a growing environment.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day while also partnering with leadership and helping guide the business forward. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions including month-end close, financial reporting, A/P, A/R, and general ledger
- Own inventory accounting, costing, and COGS accuracy
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and reporting
- Partner with ownership to provide insight into business performance, cost management, and operational efficiency
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, surface issues, and develop solutions
- Identify and implement process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting capabilities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Work cross-functionally with operations to align financial performance with business goals
- Leverage ERP systems and tools to improve efficiency and automation
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (10+ preferred)
- Strong experience with cost accounting and inventory in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Solid understanding of operational finance and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with ownership and cross-functional teams
- Comfortable operating independently with a high level of accountability
- Experience supporting audits or preparing financials for review is a plus
