The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead and manage a growing accounting team in the construction industry. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions. You’ll be a coach, mentor, and active contributor, partnering across the organization to improve financial data quality and streamline processes.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Bellevue, WA. Our office hours are 6am–5pm, with flexible daily scheduling based on business and team needs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and manage accounting staff, fostering professional growth and accountability
- Partner with colleagues across the organization to ensure smooth flow of financial information
- Establish and maintain internal controls for accurate and compliant accounting procedures
- Support general ledger account coordination with external auditors
- Oversee annual insurance renewal and audit processes
- Maintain and update labor rates for bids and proposals
- Manage business licenses and related compliance
- Provide annual performance evaluations and compensation reviews for accounting team members
- Act as backup for payroll (including union reporting), cash management, collections, tax and licensing, month-end close, accruals, and fixed asset management
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Proven experience leading and managing a team
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- 4+ years of general ledger experience in construction (preferred)
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis (preferred)
- Work-In-Progress (WIP) experience is a plus
