Location: San Marcos, CA Schedule: Full-Time Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE An established and growing company in San Marcos is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the organization’s financial health. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded accounting background, prior leadership experience, and the ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial oversight and strategic support. Responsibilities: Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management Manage month-end and year-end closing processes Prepare and review financial statements, balance-sheet reconciliations, and management reports Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights to company leadership Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and other regulatory reporting Supervise, train, and support accounting team members Improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and operational efficiency Partner with department leaders to support budgeting and financial decision-making Maintain relationships with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and vendors Qualifications: 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls Experience managing month-end and year-end close Prior supervisory or team-lead experience Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with ERP or accounting software Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leadership This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of a company’s financial operations while contributing to its continued growth.
