Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Controller for a direct hire opportunity in Mira Loma, CA, supporting a manufacturing and operations finance environment within the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industry. This role is ideal for an accounting leader who enjoys working closely with operations, supply chain, quality, and executive leadership to improve financial visibility, strengthen controls, and support profitable growth.

The Controller will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, compliance, and internal controls. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence business decisions, improve systems and processes, and help guide operational performance in a production-based setting.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable leading both strategic finance initiatives and day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Lead cost accounting, margin analysis, and production-related financial analysis covering raw materials, labor, overhead, and operational profitability.
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, improve decision-making, and support business strategy.
- Implement, maintain, and improve accounting systems, processes, internal controls, and financial reporting procedures.
- Support audits, tax filings, regulatory requirements, banking relationships, cash flow planning, and accounting team development.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $95,000 to $115,000 per year.

Primary duties and projects include:

- Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting functions.
- Manage cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and financial systems.
- Partner with operations and leadership to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial decision-making.

Required qualifications and skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing, production, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or a related operational environment.
- Strong experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, compliance, audits, and tax-related reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Fishbowl, or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced environment with changing business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA preferred.
- Experience implementing or optimizing accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Fishbowl, NetSuite, or similar ERP platforms.
- Prior experience supporting manufacturing finance, inventory costing, margin analysis, and production cost controls.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or developing accounting and finance staff.
