Controller – Hotel & Corporate Accounting

Hybrid | San Diego, CA
$100,000–$140,000 DOE | Full-Time | Exempt

We are seeking an experienced Controller to support the CFO and hotel leadership by overseeing financial reporting and accounting operations for multiple hotel properties and corporate entities. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and strong financial controls while partnering closely with ownership and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce monthly P&L and balance sheets for assigned hotels

Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations

Manage and mentor corporate and property accounting teams

Ensure compliance with USALI (11th Edition) and all tax and reporting requirements

Analyze budget vs. actual variances and implement cost controls

Prepare weekly cash position reports and support owner distributions

Partner with CFO, GMs, Regional VPs, and ownership on financial strategy, audits, budgets, and forecasts

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of hotel accounting

Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)

Experience with M3 Accounting Core preferred

Brand and systems experience preferred (Marriott, Choice, Hyatt, Hilton, IHG)

Ability to manage multiple properties and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong leadership, communication, and confidentiality skills

Experience & Education:

5+ years hotel accounting experience required

Senior-level accounting or controller experience required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
