We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and results-driven Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions for a multi-entity hospitality and wine organization. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial data across multiple operating brands.
The Controller will provide financial insight, process oversight, and operational support to drive performance and accountability, while leading accounting and IT teams to optimize systems, strengthen controls, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting business growth, improving financial efficiency, and maintaining the organization’s reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and compliance to GAAP
Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and multi-entity consolidations
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Ensure accurate payroll processing in collaboration with HR and department leadership
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare timely financial statements for individual entities and consolidated operations
Provide analysis of results to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
Develop and monitor key financial metrics to support operational decision-making
Partner with department leaders to align operational and financial performance
Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Coordinate annual financial audits and act as liaison with external auditors
Maintain audit-ready financial records, including sales and property tax filings
Systems & Process Improvement
Lead improvements in accounting systems, workflows, and reporting tools
Oversee integrations with property-level systems, POS, payroll, and inventory platforms
Recommend software and process enhancements to support scalability and growth
Leadership & Team Development
Directly supervise and mentor accounting team members, fostering accountability and high performance
Provide training, feedback, and professional growth opportunities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance organizational efficiency
Lead by example during peak periods and month-end closings
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or leadership role
Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or multi-entity operations preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and consolidated financial reporting
Hands-on experience with accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics)
Familiarity with payroll and POS systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Toast, OpenTable) preferred
Proven ability to lead and develop accounting and IT teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail and professional integrity
