Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join their senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This critical role carries significant responsibility for overseeing all accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate accounting records, and managing the monthly close process. The Controller will coordinate grant funding requests, support annual audits, and ensure the timely production of monthly financial reports. Working closely with the CFO, the Controller will prepare comprehensive report packages for the Board of Directors, funding partners, and other key stakeholders. Additional duties include managing the general ledger and accounting staff, supervising cash management and internal controls, reconciling grant activities, ensuring compliance reporting, and driving continuous improvements in operational processes. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a CPA or related certification preferred. Candidates should bring at least five years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of two years in exempt-level non-profit fund accounting. Experience with multi-program non-profits, audit coordination, and proficiency with accounting software—especially Sage—is highly desirable, along with strong fund accounting skills.
