About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong background in construction finance? We’re seeking a Project Accountant to join our growing team and take ownership of the financial lifecycle of our construction projects.
In this high-impact role, you’ll play a critical part in keeping our projects financially on track—ensuring accurate cost tracking, timely billing, and clear reporting. You’ll work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and leadership to support financial transparency and success from kickoff through closeout.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and process project contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Manage job cost invoices, subcontractor billings, and other project-related financial transactions with accuracy and timeliness.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on contract and billing issues.
Maintain organized records—both digital and physical—of all project documentation.
Reconcile monthly inventories and assist with material cost analysis.
Track and process costs for materials, labor, equipment, and miscellaneous expenses.
Support project closeout by preparing reconciliations, final reports, and resolving outstanding invoices.
Manage time and effort reporting systems in accordance with company policy and compliance requirements.
Oversee work completed by support staff, including reviewing reconciliations and unit entries.
Ensure timely and accurate payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare and generate financial reports and statements from multiple data sources.
Assist with month-end closings and support broader accounting operations.
Contribute to special projects and take on additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
3+ years of experience in commercial construction accounting
Strong understanding of construction cost accounting and job costing principles
Proficiency in accounting software platforms such as Sage 300 and Procore
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
