AppleOne is currently recruiting for a Construction Bookkeeper in the Santa Clarita area.
Job Description:
This role ensures accurate tracking of project costs, labor expenses, and vendor payments, while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and financial reporting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in construction accounting, and proficient with accounting software like QuickBooks or Buildertrend.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Recordkeeping
• Record all financial transactions including income, expenses, and petty cash.
• Maintain accurate documentation of bank deposits, withdrawals, and electronic payments.
• Manage and file receipts for tax and audit purposes.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Process and track invoices to clients and from vendors.
• Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments to maintain good relationships.
• Experience with 20-day Pre-Liens Notices, Progress and Final Lien Release Process.
3. Payroll & Labor Cost Management
• Process payroll for employees and subcontractors.
• Track hours worked and allocate labor costs to specific projects.
• Reconcile payroll records and ensure compliance with labor laws.
4. Account Reconciliation
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements with internal records.
• Resolve discrepancies in subcontractor invoices and other financial documents.
• Maintain accuracy in the general ledger and journal entries.
5. Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Assist with tax preparation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain records in accordance with GAAP and construction-specific accounting standards.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or Buildertrend, Microsoft Excel, or other construction accounting software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, lien waivers, and job costing.
