Job Summary

We are seeking a Construction Bookkeeper II for a remote opportunity supporting a growing real estate development and construction organization with multiple residential projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong construction bookkeeping experience and required Sage 100 proficiency.

The Construction Bookkeeper II will play a key role in keeping project financials accurate, organized, and lender-ready. You will support accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, construction loan draw submissions, reconciliations, and monthly reporting while working closely with project managers and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable using Sage 100 construction accounting software.
- Prepare and submit monthly construction loan draw packages with required lender documentation.
- Track job costs, budgets, commitments, change orders, and project-related accounting details.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
- Coordinate with project managers and ownership regarding cost updates, documentation, and monthly financial reporting.
- Maintain vendor files, W-9s, lien releases, compliance documents, and organized digital financial records.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Work arrangement: Remote, but candidates must be based in California.
- Job type: Contract to Hire 1099 contractor

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage construction bookkeeping activities, including AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
- Prepare construction loan draw packages and support lender documentation requirements.
- Track job costs, project budgets, commitments, and change orders.
- Provide monthly financial reporting and coordinate accounting updates with project managers and ownership.

- Sage 100 construction accounting software proficiency is required.
- 3 or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and general ledger support.
- Experience with construction loan draws, lender documentation, and project financial tracking.
- Ability to assist with AIA billing when needed.
- Highly organized, accurate, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Reliable home office setup required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior bookkeeping experience with residential construction, commercial construction, real estate development, or construction project accounting.
- Experience maintaining vendor compliance files, lien releases, W-9s, and digital accounting records.
- Familiarity with construction-focused Sage modules and project-based financial reporting.
